Hi, I am Suzanne Muusers, Coach for Advisors and Brand Strategist since 2004.
Business Plan Guide, Sample Business Plans, Marketing Tools, e-course & more!
Being a financial advisor is like being self employed. The amount of money you would like to earn depends upon your own effort. If you are willing to hit the streets in the early years of being an advisor, you will do well. And that's the thing - the first few years you won't earn much because you'll be building your foundation. Making appointments, filling your prospect pipeline, learning the ins and outs of investing. You'll need a supportive family to help you through this "break in" period.
After year two, your momentum should build enough to earn at least six figures provided you have postioned yourself well in the marketplace with a good brand, a good 30 second commerical, and a good list of prospects.
At year three to five, you can expect to grow to $200K with a little hard work. As long as you have the best interest of your clients in mind, you can grow your assets under management and begin to enjoy a good recurring revenue stream.
At your job interview, be sure you know what will help you become financially successful. You must plan well. Create a Business Plan and a Marketing Plan, create motivational goals, and stay productive.
"Before using this Plan, I spent unfocused time on activities that made me feel busy. Now I have detailed goals that are firmly entrenched in my mind and I use the daily planner to take focused action. I get out of the office and meet with prospects in a focused strategic manner rather than burying myself in my practice. This has lead to bringing in more assets under management which allowed me to hire additional staff."
